Now that you have registered with ScriptMe and logged in for the first time, it is time to learn about the software and your account Preferences.
We will review one by one the options that you can enable or disable in this tab.
Let’s start!
Understand and configure your account preferences
1. Go to Preferences
Here you have two tabs. One dedicated to the Editor and the other to General.
Let’s start with the preferences of the Editor.
Editor – Preferences
It is divided into 3 sections.
- Translation and text edits
- Copy and paste
- Avid markers text
1. Translation and text edits
A. Autopause when clicking
If you activate this option, clicking on any text in the online transcript editor will stop the playback of the video so that you can write in more focus.
If it is not selected, it will simply continue playing.
B. Show word toolbar
When you enable this option, when you select a text within the timestamps, you will see a bar with options to highlight the text, add comments, make it bold or italic or add a timestamp.
C. Smart Capitalization
When enabled, ScriptMe automatically adds capitalization to the next word after punctuation symbols such as “?”, “!”, or “.”
D. Numbers, please
ScriptMe will transcribe to numbers instead of text (4 instead of four) when this option is enabled.
E. Inline translate
It will add the button to transcribe a timestamp individually.
If you look at the image above and below, you will see that the Translate button has now been added.
2. Copy and paste
All these options are for copying and pasting content from the platform.
A. Include timestamps
When selected, it will copy the timecode in addition to the text.
B. Include file name
It will add the file name to the copied text.
C. Include speaker name
It will include the speaker’s name before the copied content.
You can also copy it with 2/3 or 3/3 options available
3. Avid markers text
This option allows you to add a note to each Avid markers text and use it with shortcuts in all your videos.
General – Preferences
Here are the general settings of your account. Let’s look at them one by one
A. Default transcription language
This is the default language that will be selected when uploading your files.
You can indicate the one you prefer here to see it always selected by default (of course you can change it to another language when uploading your files).
B. Default action
This is the default action that will be selected when uploading a file.
You can select Transcription or Subtitles by default.
C. Enable tutorials
If selected you will see tutorials on the main dashboard to help you in your transcriptions.

You can deactivate it and you will not receive such emails.
